App Install Offers: How Better Feedback Drives Higher Completion Rates
Help users understand app-install offer requirements, pending verification, confirmed rewards, and reversals without promising unsupported tracking or payout times.

App-install offers ask a user to leave your site or game, complete an action in another app, and wait for confirmation. Clear instructions and honest reward messages make that flow easier to understand. They cannot replace the advertiser's verification or guarantee that an install will qualify.
This guide covers the messages a publisher can control around a ClixWall offerwall. For the technical setup, see the integration guide.
Before the user starts
Show the offer's actual requirements and reward as supplied on the Wall. An install alone may not satisfy an offer that also asks for an open, registration, or in-app milestone. Avoid rewriting the advertiser's terms into a shorter promise.
Put the offerwall entry point where users can find it, and explain that rewards are credited after a confirmed conversion. If a reward can later be reversed, do not describe it as permanently final.
While the user is away
Your site can remember that a user opened the Wall or clicked an entry point. That is your own interaction event, not proof that the advertiser tracked an install. Avoid messages such as "Install verified" or "Reward on its way" until a confirmed event reaches your server.
If the user returns without a reward, a neutral message is more accurate: "Complete the requirements shown in the offer. Your balance updates after confirmation." Link to your support process so users can report a missing reward with the offer name and approximate time.
After confirmation
ClixWall sends a publisher postback when a conversion is processed. Use the postback's user ID, user payout, transaction ID, and status to update your own reward ledger. Show the new balance from your server once that update succeeds. If a reversal follows, update the ledger and explain the adjustment in the user's history.
The postback guide explains the current fields and duplicate handling. Closing the iframe or WebView is not a conversion signal.
Feedback states worth designing
| State your app can verify | User-facing message |
|---|---|
| Wall opened | "Choose an offer and follow its requirements." |
| User returned with no confirmed event | "No reward has been confirmed yet. Check the offer requirements or contact support." |
| Confirmed credit processed | "Reward added to your balance." |
| Confirmed reversal processed | "This reward was reversed. See the reason or contact support." |
Only display a countdown or estimated verification time if you have a reliable source for that specific offer. Different advertisers and measurement partners confirm actions on different schedules.
Measure whether the experience improves
Record your own Wall opens, support requests, confirmed credits, and reversals. Compare those metrics before and after changing the copy or placement. Keep the same cohort and observation window when comparing results; a change in available offers can otherwise look like a copy effect.
For an app-install offer, inspect the advertiser's actual completion rules and test the user journey on the supported devices. Check what your own app says before and after the publisher postback arrives. If users repeatedly report a missing reward, reconcile the user ID and transaction history with the publisher dashboard instead of guessing at a verification time.
A practical checklist
- Show the actual action and reward before the user leaves.
- Avoid treating a click or app return as a confirmed install.
- Credit users only after a confirmed postback and handle reversals.
- Keep an event history that support can inspect without exposing private identifiers.
- Test with a real device and the dashboard's test postback before launch.
